Professor Helle Vandkilde is awarded for her contribution to European prehistory

Professor Helle Vandkilde has been awarded the Europa Prize 2017 for her ‘outstanding contribution to European prehistory’.

To celebrate her achievements, The Prehistoric Society Europa Conference 2017 will be held at the University of Southampton from 23–24 June 2017 focusing on the principal research theme of the Prize-winner: The Bronze Age as Pre-Modern globalization.
On this occasion, the winner of the Prize will  give a special lecture: ‘Small, medium, and large: Globalization perspectives on the Afro-Eurasian Bronze Age’.


The annual Europa prize was instigated in 1965 by Sir Grahame Clark, Disney professor at Cambridge University.
