Examples of collaboration between the Faculty of Arts and municipalities

Equal opportunities based on interaction during play and learning (the Municipality of Lolland)

The aim of this project is to develop new, better forms of enthusiastic interaction between adults and 3-6 year-old children in childcare centres. Interaction that can enhance the children’s sense of well-being, as well as developing their language and improving their ability to pay attention and adjust their own behaviour. The goal is to increase the likelihood that children at risk will achieve the same degree of success as other children.

This is a two-year project (2017-2019) between the Danish School of Education at Aarhus University, and childcare professionals and assistants at seven childcare centres in the Municipality of Lolland. The project is supported by the Velux Foundation.

Rethinking tourism in a coastal city – design for new engagements (the Municipality of Ringkøbing-Skjern)

Danish coastal towns have great potential for attracting new tourists. As a result, the Municipality of Ringkøbing-Skjern, researchers from Aarhus University and the Aarhus School of Architecture have designed a project aimed at rethinking tourism in Danish coastal towns.

The goal of the project is to improve the exchange of information between researchers, professionals and the tourist industry in Ringkøbing-Skjern, helping this region to become a driving force in this field and turning coastal tourism into an even stronger focal point for Danish tourism as a whole.

Jan Ifversen, Britta Timm Knudsen, Mads Daugbjerg and Anne-Marit Waade are representing Aarhus University in the project. The Municipality of Ringkøbing-Skjern, Ringkøbing-Skjern Museum, Dansk Kyst og Naturturisme, VisitAarhus and KRAFT are also taking part.
