In connection with the ECER Conference in Copenhagen on 22-25 August 2017, Deakin University from Australia hosted an event in the evening of 22 August to celebrate the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the research centres REDI (Research for Educational Impact) and CHEF (Centre for Higher Education Futures).

In her speech, the Australian Ambassador, MaryEllen Miller, emphasised the importance of higher education links between Denmark and Australia.  

The Deakin contingent included Julianne Moss, who is the Director of REDI; Jill Blackmore, the Head of REDI’s Education Policy and Governance unit; Ursula Lorentzen, REDI’s international officer; and 15 other academics from Deakin.

From Aarhus University, participants included Claus Holm, who is the Head of the Danish School of Education; Susan Wright, the Director of CHEF; Søren Bengtsen, the Deputy Director of CHEF; Sarah Robinson and Jakob Williams Ørberg, who are members of the CHEF steering group; and a number of core, associate and international members of CHEF.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Claus Holm and Julianne Moss and was witnessed by MaryEllen Miller, Jill Blackmore and Susan Wright. The Memorandum of Understanding puts future collaborations between REDI and CHEF on a strong footing and opens opportunities for members to engage in:

• research visits
• student exchanges
• podcast seminars
• collaborative applications for research funding
• joint research projects
• joint publications
• cooperation regarding doctoral education programmes

The signing event took place at Nebbiolo Winebar, Kongens Nytorv, in Copenhagen.
