Cris Shore has been appointed a visiting professor

Professor Cris Shore of Auckland University has been appointed a CHEF visiting professor for the next 18 months.

Professor Cris Shore of Auckland University has been appointed a CHEF visiting professor. Cris is a social anthropologist who studies higher education, policy, the European Union, corruption and the Crown.

He will be visiting CHEF on 26 February to 3 March 2018 and frequently thereafter over the next 18 months. 

In his first visit he will be working with Sue Wright on a book on audit culture and starting a project on Performance management. On 1 March he will give a lunch talk at 12.00 on ‘Corruption and the University’ and at 15.30 everyone is invited to launch Sue Wright and Chris Shore´s latest book Death of the Public University?

During the week he will meet with Karen Valentin's visiting Nepali PhD students for an event ‘Studying corruption: analytical and methodological challenges’ as part of her Danida-funded project ‘Locating Public Finance Dynamics in Education in Nepal’.

He will also participate in a workshop on ‘Value and Education’ on 26 February 2018 from 10.30-17.00 as part of Gritt Nielsen's Nova project. The aim is to explore how social and moral values interact with economic and other calculable types of value in formal and informal educational settings.
