Kicking Off 2026 with great projects and collaboration

We started the new year with an inspiring half-day seminar that showcased the incredible strength, knowledge, and energy within our centre. The event featured a series of presentations highlighting cutting-edge projects at the intersection of language, AI, and human creativity.

Program Highlights:

  • Mina Almasi & Laurits Wieslander Lyngbæk presented their ongoing work on developing an LLM-based tutor for second language learning.
  • Kasper Fyhn demonstrated how large language models enable new insights into causative verbs.
  • Magnus Bender shared brand-new results from a joint project exploring how LLMs acquire grammatical proficiency.
  • Arthur Hjorth gave a live demo of a tool designed for analyzing argumentation.
  • Halfdan Nordahl Fundal offered a preview of preliminary findings from a large collection of human-AI writing in English, German, and Danish.
  • Marc Barcelos presented his research on expressive writing profiles and the contextual understanding of author identity.

We were also delighted to welcome guest speaker Akhil Arora from the Department of Computer Science at Aarhus University, who introduced several projects from his CLAN group, including systems aimed at reducing the energy consumption of LLMs and improving their reliability.

A big thank you to all presenters and participants for sharing such innovative work and sparking engaging discussions. The diversity of projects highlights the immense potential of combining language, AI, and human creativity. We look forward to building on this momentum and exploring new collaborations across disciplines in the year ahead.
