First CORE Collective Summer Seminar: AI, Culture, and Community
On the last Friday in August, the CORE Collective hosted its very first Summer Seminar and Party, bringing together researchers, technical and administration staff for an afternoon of reflection, discussion, and celebration.
The seminar took place at the Aarhus Institute of Advanced Studies (AIAS) and featured a thought-provoking talk by Anders Kristian Munk from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). His presentation, “Whose AI? Cultural specificity in large X models”, sparked a lively and critical debate on the cultural dimensions of artificial intelligence and the challenges of value alignment in large-scale systems.
The event concluded with a festive evening at Salling Rooftop, where participants continued the conversations in a more informal setting, enjoying the late summer sun and each other’s company.
This marks the beginning of a new tradition for the CORE Collective—bringing together interdisciplinary perspectives on pressing societal and technological issues in a format that blends academic depth with community spirit.
