My work broadly focuses on understanding social problems and developing strategies for their prevention. In particular, I am interested in how people experience and make sense of intoxication, violence, extremism, and war. These interests have resulted in ethnographic and mixed-methods research in places like nightclubs, prisons, music festivals, drug markets, and seaside resorts (e.g. Sunny Beach and Ibiza).
