The Faculty of Arts

The Faculty of Arts is one of Northern Europe’s most significant faculties for research and higher education in the humanities, theology and education. Arts creates knowledge grounded in an understanding of people, cultures and the changes that shape our shared future. Arts’ research and degree programmes provide insights that help address complex societal challenges, ranging from digitalisation, sustainability and learning to democracy, cultural encounters and human well-being.

Arts has campuses in Aarhus and Copenhagen (Emdrup) and offers a total of 35 Bachelor’s degree programmes and 53 Master’s degree programmes, as well as a number of professional Master’s degree programmes and supplementary subjects.

Arts collaborates with municipalities, companies, foundations, cultural institutions, civil society stakeholders and international universities, because knowledge creates value when it is put to use where people live, work and learn. The collaboration enables decision-making, practice development and sustainable change.

With around 700 academic staff, 9,000 Bachelor’s and Master’s degree students, 200 PhD students and 1,500 participants in continuing and further education, Arts is a vibrant environment where research, education and collaboration interact closely. Here, new knowledge is developed, and graduates are equipped to understand complex problems, communicate clearly, build new connections and contribute to both private and public organisations.

The Faculty of Arts consists of three schools:
