Abstract:
This paper focuses on the experience of authenticity in museum and heritage contexts. Sensory experience, patina and the social biographies of objects are important aspects of the experience of authenticity. But ultimately I argue that networks of relationships between people, objects and places are central. I will draw on various examples from my recent research to show how these networks are (re)produced and negotiated in practice.
