Exploring AI in and through healthcare – December 1. 2023

In second seminar, we seek to understand AI through debates and studies on how it unfolds in healthcare. In general, AI entails several challenges, which become more pertinent and take new forms within healthcare where people’s health is at stake. Further, despite all the hype and investment of capital, the implementation of AI in healthcare has encountered challenges and through two contrasting cases – one focusing one the obstacles and difficulties, the other on the silent and apparently smooth integration into work – the seminar will explore those challenges. More broadly, the workshop asks: how are AI and healthcare co-produced? We conclude the seminar by a lunch during which the seminar participants are invited to share thoughts and ideas of how to further study AI and healthcare and what approaches and analytical frameworks from STS and beyond might be mobilized to do so.
