Abstract: Our epistemic justification for moral beliefs is permanently defeated by biological considerations. As a consequence, the epistemic respectability of moral philosophy as an area of intellectual inquiry is called into question. In particular, I argue that we should be skeptical of our capacity for reliability about moral matters because it is very unlikely that we have the genetic underpinnings needed for such a piece of cognitive machinery.
