Join the new Masterclass and Mentorship Programme in Computational Humanities

Are you a humanities researcher at Aarhus University looking to integrate computational and data science approaches into your research?

This fully funded masterclass and mentorship programme, supported by IT-Vest, runs from the spring of 2025 to the spring of 2026 and offers a unique opportunity to enhance your skills in computational humanities.

Why join?

This programme is designed to support humanities researchers who want to engage more with quantitative and data science-based approaches in their work.

What you will gain:

Advanced computational skills

Perform and interpret data analysis, develop algorithms and programming skills, Train and apply machine learning models.

Project and research development

Learn to integrate computational approaches into research, collaborate with peers and mentors, develop and submit research proposals, work towards publishing quantitative studies, build expertise in computational humanities

How to make the most of this masterclass programme

This programme is specifically for humanities researchers at AU who:

  • Have experience with quantitative methods and basic scientific programming (e.g. Python)
  • Want to apply data science techniques in their research
  • Are motivated to publish quantitative studies and develop computational research proposals.

Note: The programme is designed as a continuous learning experience, where each session builds on the previous one. Full participation will ensure you gain the maximum benefit from the mentorship and skill development opportunities.

Who can join?

This programme is designed for researchers in the humanities who are eager to explore computational approaches in their work. Priority is given to participants from the Faculty of Arts and those in a permanent (including tenure track) position, as one goal is to support the development of research proposals and grant applications through the mentorship programme.

However, we also welcome scholars from across the humanities (i.e., from other faculties), including Early Career Researchers with a strong interest in the Computational Humanities. Please note that there are no PhD course credits assigned to this programme.
