CHEF Involved in new DUN special interest group

A new special interest group titled ‘Higher Education Policy and Practice’ (HEPP) within the Danish Network for Educational Development in Higher Education will be launched at DPU in Copenhagen on 20 May 2020.

It is rare in a Danish academic context that policy and practice speak together and are combined in a joint undertaking. Often, policy makers and practitioners work and discuss their work in separate forums, and few efforts exist that try and bridge the gap between the two paradigms. The special interest group (SIG) aims to mend the divide by generating a dialogue between researchers and practitioners  working in the intersections of higher education policy and practice.

Further, the HEPP aims to include members who work across academic and institutional levels: academic leaders, researchers, developers, teachers, and students (across all levels). This way, HEPP aims for a greater level of awareness, understanding, complementarity, and cohesion in the future debates, initiatives, and actions taken in order to mutually benefit the policy and practice levels of higher education in Denmark.

To get started, HEPP has three initial strands of focus including ‘Research Integrity’, ‘Academic Freedom’, and ‘Academic Citizenship’. The membership will hopefully develop further strands in due course.

Read more about the SIG and its members.

SIG Membership is free and open to all students, faculty and staff interested in developing a dialogue between researchers and practitioners on higher education policy and practice. SIG membership requires DUN membership, which most institutions of higher education have, and thereby also their students and staff. To become a member of the SIG, please write to DUN: dun@sdu.dk

To attend the Launch Event on May 20th, at 11.00-15.30 at Danish School of Education, Campus, Emdrup, Aarhus University, please sign up here.

HEPP is initially coordinated by CHEF members Søren Bengtsen (CUDIM and Deputy Director of CHEF), Sue Wright (DPU and Director of CHEF), and Lise Degn (CFA and CHEF member).
