In May 2014, citizens of the 28 European Union member states will elect their representatives to the European Parliament (EP).

Elections are rituals in democratic political systems that can be studied from multiple perspectives. This includes the way democracy is interpreted by voters and candidates, and the different political topics of the campaign. Elections can be studied as history, identity politics, or power games. The orchestration of elections depends on several groups, from civil servants to political parties and volunteers involved with organising campaign events.

These elections are in focus at this conference where the research undertaken by the group of European Studies MA-students will be presented.
