Cultural Dynamics

The research programme Cultural Dynamics, at the Department of Culture and Society, will be hosting a seminar at Aarhus University on 24 September. The seminar will take place in building 1483, room 454 in Nobelparken from 13.00-16.00.

All are welcome!

How can fashion and use of accessories be part of political history? Can a historian make sense of political positions stated through consumption? Why is the stating of social positions through material culture important?

This seminar will focus on how objects, material culture and a broad variety of other cultural sources often neglected in historical research can be part of political history. With fascinating examples two internationally acknowledged scholars will challenge our concept of sources and show how objects can bring culture into political history.
