Through studies of the religious practices of 19th century Methodists, the lecture will introduce the historical study of emotions inspired by the practice theory of Bourdieu. History of Emotions has been a growing field in Cultural History in recent years, and Monique Scheer has been working extensively in this field as well as in the field of popular religious practices.
Monique Scheer is Assistant Professor in Historical and Cultural Anthropology at Tübingen University
